The Honourable Dr. G.I. Gallop,
Premier of Western Australia,
Minister for the Public Sector,
24th Floor, 197 St George’s Terrace,
Perth, WA, 6000

March 22nd 2005

Dear Dr. Gallop,

I am writing to ask you to please address the contents of the letter I have written to the Australian Ambassador in Paris (enclosed) and to take some appropriate action.    That letter concerns a request that  Mr Jean-Paul Turcaud be finally and officially recognised in the annals of history of the state as the discoverer of the Telfer gold mine*, and accorded some appropriate recompense for his efforts.   As a fellow citizen and a geologist in the profession in which Mr Turcaud has proved himself to be exemplary, I call upon you as Premier Elect of the State to do what you can to right a wrong that continues to be perpetrated on this man.

The Telfer gold mine has grossed billions of dollars in revenue, a substantial portion of which has accrued directly and indirectly to Australia as a whole, and to the State of Western Australia in particular, yet Mr Turcaud himself has gained virtually nothing, suffered at the hands of others' dishonesty, and endured torment from those ever ready to denigrate those who step out of the mold of mediocrity and dare to achieve.

As a concerned citizen and on behalf of the People of Western Australia I ask you, from a sense of fairness in the common dealings of men, to please take some measure to redress this injustice, and find a way to afford this man some just recompense for his exceptional effort.

Yours faithfully,

Donald Findlay
Geologist.
