Make them accountable. Stop the duplicity and complicity, the chants and mantras, ...the passwords and handshakes. Say "NO!" to 're-election'. Consensus views for plate tectonics have no more support than creationism. Less in fact, ...for at least creationism leaves its believers with a warm fuzzy glow whilst the other leaves its followers with the unpalatable feeling that they're being 'had' after half a century of plate tectonics spinning the line that "more research is needed"- on your dough!. The only reason it says so is because it's led itself up the garden path, ...got itself lost, ...but nevertheless is asking you to follow. So don't procrastinate, ... COGITATE - PARTICIPATE and COMMUNICATE for a better deal. Write to your MP ! Elect the other mob - the anti-consensus view - for a change. Namely me. Google up "Subduction Zones". Get about 24,500 web entries, ...all of them saying the same thing
Google up "Transform Faults". Get 6,490 web entries, ...all of them saying the same thing
Google up "spreading ridges". Get 5,480 web entries, ...all of them saying that too.Google up "how plate tectonics works". Get 183 entries, all of them telling "how", ...but if you want to know how the various elements of the model actually formed, then you run into trouble:-

If that doesn't tell you something about the balance of entrenched consensus versus alternative views, then nothing does.
| So how is it possible that in 138,000 entries on plate tectonics virtually no-one has addressed the main questions underpinning it, using that string? Scientific enquiry simply cannot begin without using the word 'how', and certainly it isn't possible to write anything. In science, talking about how things work without talking about what they are and how they form in the first place is pulling wool over eyes, and missing a whole lot of point. |
So what's going on? Is this the only site on the web asking the hard questions:-

...And answering them... ? Well, ...yes, ..if you keep the string within "quotation marks" to see what people are actually saying. What does that tell you about so-called 'lively controversy' and 'active discussion' that's supposed to characterise science? Or, to put it another way, what does it tell you about the entrenchment of sterile consensus? You can google up those 183 entries telling how plate tectonics works and see if they really do.... You'll find no-one asking those questions directly in those terms, and how you ask them otherwise is a mystery - to me at least. Maybe in plate tectonics there are no hard questions, ...maybe it's all sewn up, ...they do say plate tectonics is very successful at explaining what we see. But is it? Not in my book, ..but you be the judge. I've even asked questions on Usenet. You try. Tell them I asked already, and now you want answers too.
On the site thus far is just sketched the supporting outline. Yet to come is the architectural reinforcement as we start putting on the 'geological clothes', so to speak. For half a century plate tectonics has had free run, tramping alternative views like a dragon guards its treasure. So the change is beginning (after half a century) to happen 'out thar.' In here it already has. Which is what you can read about. But Nasa? They're miles away. They're looking for a new catchphrase, and "Global Tectonics" is apparently IT. Plate Tectonics is finished. Had its day. Run its course. Very likely they're getting clues from this site but can only translate in code. Turning this ship (HMS Plate Tectonics) around in midstream is far too politically sensitive. What? Taking on board the Expanding Earth model that plate tectonics has been rubbishing for the last half-century? Who will wreck their career on that one? (OoOhh no, .. Not me, say Plate Tectonicists... Only fringe artists. Like me. Helped by readers, ..like you, ..asking the embarrassing sort of child-like questions that often only 'children' can) But you, ...you can read about it here, ..ahead of the pack, ahead of a worldful of academic 'scientists' still rooted in the distant past of half a century ago - and the complicity of a consensus that suits them, ... the comfortable publication milk-cow of Plate tectonics. ...You can not only read about it, you can participate in the change. Get the disc and track it - contribute even, and ask a guru a question. Don't put up with the rote answers. Insist on better. The CD of consensus runs deep. That by the way stands for 'complicity' and 'duplicity', and is a capital acronym. (What a mob...!) The site runs a heck of a lot deeper than anything consensus can dish up.
