Using
a mix of tactics to challenge a monolithic and moribund consensus, the
author incisively and mercilessly dissects the arguments for Plate Tectonics
and rejects them in favour of an Earth that is getting bigger. In
a series of expositions highlighting dilation and torsion on a stupendous
scale he invites the reader to contemplate a perspective on planet Earth
that is vastly different from the one he has probably come to know.
Through
a series of linked expositions the reader is led to the conclusion that
the Earth has no less than doubled its size in the recent geological past,
with swivelling detachments related to mantle extrusion steered by rotation.
The author somewhat reluctantly concludes a cause (if a cause must be offered)
possibly related to Moon capture or collision of the Earth with a mars-sized
impactor, which is the current view for the origin of the Earth-Moon system.
Note however that the Earth was smaller.

He
readily acknowledges that this may not be correct but offers it on grounds
that it may provide a ready mechanism for the addition of substantial mass
and energy in excess of the initial heat budget provided by accretion,
which is necessary for the apparently massive enlargement of the Earth
and the continuing deformation of an originally formed crust, and which
is a controversial impediment to mainstream acceptance of the fact of global
enlargement.
Regardless
of speculation the author emphasises the importance of a geological, rather
than a geophysical approach to understanding the Earth's crust, and maintains
that inclusion of the Earth's rotation is essential in this. He argues
that its omission from Plate Tectonic theory has led the Earth sciences
down a blind alley, that Plate Tectonics is an afront to simple logic and
that it is a sterile and blind behemoth that offers nothing to Earth science,
and that it should be dumped in its entirety. Forthwith.
In
dismissing Plate Tectonics the author then confronts us with a somewhat
disconcerting question: if the essence of science is falsification, and
falsification of Plate Tectonics is so simply
shown, what value is there in the continual catchcry, "More
research is needed" when Plate Tectonics compares crustal deformation
to "soup in a pot", steadfastly
refuses to include the Earth's rotation in its model, and from a geological
viewpoint is virtually no further forward in understanding global tectonics
than it was half a century ago? Indeed, as these notes show, Plate
Tectonics is beset by ever more conundrums, implying the question: are
geologists so beguiled by the hat-magic and plate- spinning of geophysics
that they are impervious to rational assessment of the many conundrums
and contradictions that beset Plate Tectonics? Or has Earth science
simply become a gravytrain for scientific mediocrity and disingenuous,
bandwagon- hopping expediency?
Such
politically sensitive questions are an implicit (and sometimes explicit)
subtext to the book and are raised in the interest of public concern, but
the central theme stands: for whatever reason the Earth is getting bigger,
and at a remarkable rate.
The
book is a collection of essays that are intended as a landmark in establishing
the link between the Earth's rotation and Earth expansion as the author
sees it. They are by no means complete but are offered as research
in the making, a foundation for others to build on. The essential
argument negating Plate Tectonic theory is sufficient affirmation of expansion
and is free from the site, and with that negation Earth expansion follows
axiomatically. However the aspects describing expansion are fascinating
in themselves and are provided with the disc for a nominal charge in line
with the fine tradition of keeping old guys off the street and out of mischief
whilst they do the right thing and return their education, tempered with
what they have possibly learnt since they left school (no Bull) to the
community. This is an invitation to track a development in
the Earth sciences that is as important as the change from geocentrism
to modern astronomy. The change will not happen quickly. It
requires the demise of Plate Tectonics and will therefore not be initiated
nor funded through the mainstream given the powerful interests and dependent
infrastructure that supports and sustains that model..
