| This site was
initially posted on the web in the latter half of the year 2000 to draw
attention to the importance of boudinage structure
as
an organising principle in locating ore
deposits.
First promulgated in 1971 this observation on ore deposits was scathingly rejected by peer opinion and later in editorial review on grounds that "large-scale boudinage had not previously been described", and that in any case so much was known already about controls on ore deposits that any such contradictory interpretation of the data was more or less offensive to the profession. By the mid- seventies recognising regional-scale boudinage had led (me) to an appreciation of the importance of even larger, lithospheric- scale boudinage and crustal extension in general as the likely first-order dynamic controlling deformation of the Earth's crust, and, shortly thereafter, to full rejection of the tenets of Plate Tectonics in favour of an Earth that is getting bigger.. In presenting this alternative view, the site is intended to be informative, and, despite the variable tone of many of the pages, wholly serious. It is designed for the high school student or for the otherwise interested reader who may be looking for answers that Plate Tectonics does not, and cannot provide. These are many, but where naturally incomplete it is hoped that the reader will be stimulated to think rather than, as appears to be usual with Plate Tectonics, believe. The site is particularly a protest against the way that geologists have allowed the Earth sciences to be redefined as Plate Tectonics by the rubbery hat magic of geophysics, used by some career professionals to unjustifiably and disingenuously maintain and further a moribund consensus view to make their own publication, career advancement and institutional kudos at the expense of trustful youthful enquiry easier to achieve, a view increasingly being expressed by some retiring from the profession and able therefore to voice their opinion with relative impunity. There is no middle ground here. Plate Tectonics is simply wrong in its essential assumptions. The monolithic acceptance it enjoys is more to do with the politics of consensus than with the science, and it is important that this be known. Each page is essentially a working note, either for Earth expansion or against Plate Tectonics ("Nonsense"), written as the points arose, and posted over time in reply to overwhelmingly aggressively negative peer response in the bearpit of usenet (see "Degradation rituals" - Expansion index). No apology is made for the
reciprocal tone of a number of the pages. I hope if time permits
to get around to rewriting. In the meantime it needs to be known that Plate
Tectonics is very far from having copyright on the geological interpretation
of global tectonics.

. | . | . | A number of
pages dealing with the argument against Plate Tectonics are posted free The fact of Earth expansion needs no support other than the negation of the assumption of subduction, and follows axiomatically with the demise of Plate Tectonics However expansion stands on its own merits by the configuration of the surface geology of the planet, which offers an astounding perspective on planetary evolution against which Plate Tectonics, even if granted legitimacy, pales. By Earth expansion the course of the Earth sciences is effectively reset. As well, there may be sweeping implications for physics, for there is no ready explanation within its known laws for the enlargement apparent, Whilst somebody 'out there' may well have an explanation, this too is likely to be on the fringe and will probably be ridiculed by consensus. More likely the cause is unknown at this time.. The thesis here largely avoids speculation of a mechanism and gives emphasis to the geological elements describing expansion only. Interested readers may wish to purchase the disc, thereby helping to support the site and contribute to the further exploration of the subject. Most assuredly this will not be done through the mainstream so long as the Earth sciences are hostage to the current paradigm of Plate Tectonics. If readers wish to buy the
disc, please email (or snail-mail) me off the contact link on the front
page.
